Paying for Your Prehospital Blood Program

After finding a blood supplier, funding a prehospital blood transfusion program is often the biggest challenge for an EMS agency. This session will discuss what you’ll need to have available (blood, equipment and supplies), the cost of blood products and specific ways organizations pay for their program. Some opt to split the cost by forming regional or multi-agency programs or creating mutual-aid agreements, which will also be covered, as will the particular needs of rural communities.
