Establishing a Prehospital Blood Transfusion Program

In this session, the panel will discuss the science (both military and civilian) that strongly supports the safety and lifesaving efficacy of prehospital blood components delivered to those who are severely bleeding from a wide range of trauma, including a motor vehicle crash. Discussion will include the risks of blood transfusion (prehospitally and otherwise) before transitioning into the specifics an EMS agency needs to start building their own transfusion program, including gathering and understanding their data and creating a stakeholder group.
