Defining Prehospital Blood Transfusion

This session will discuss the role of prehospital blood transfusion in saving more people involved in a serious crash, including what a program consists of. Panelists will cover what blood products can be provided by EMS to a hemorrhaging patient, remind listeners of the basic function of blood, and address the differences between whole blood vs. component therapy. The session will also address NHTSA’s role and mission in saving more lives on U.S. roadways.
