On Save-A-Life Day, Thursday, May 21, 2026, during EMS Week, a special EMS Focus session was held. This prehospital blood transfusion panel discussion, hosted by NHTSA’s Office of EMS in partnership with Federal Interagency Committee on Emergency Medical Services (FICEMS) was moderated by NHTSA Administrator Jonathan Morrison and explored how EMS systems are implementing prehospital blood transfusion programs, the partnerships making it possible and progress underway to expand access and improve patient outcomes.
