EMS RESEARCH OPPORTUNITY
National EMS Assessment The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) will be funding a preliminary assessment of the state of the nation's EMS systems using currently available data and identifying key areas for which existing EMS data are insufficient for meaningful analysis. Specifically, NHTSA's objectives are to:
- Understand what data are being collected at the state, regional, and national levels that pertain to EMS systems, EMS emergency preparedness, and 9-1-1 communications.
- Assess the quality, availability, and comprehensiveness of the data on EMS systems that are currently being collected,
- Identify significant areas for which assessment is not possible at this time, due to limitations in existing data,
- Develop recommendations for a sustainable process to assess the nation's EMS system, and
- Obtain a written report summarizing the current state of the nation's EMS system, including recommendations for future assessment efforts.
NHTSA has posted a solicitation on FedBizOpps seeking information from interested parties. If your organization is considering submitting response to a more detailed RFP that will be published in early June, it is important to first submit a brief Corporate Capabilities Statement (CCS). The CCS should include information on your organization's experience working with EMS-related data and with EMS data partners, doing national or large-scale assessments, handling large data sets, and doing EMS-related research. For more information, go to here
The deadline for submission of a CCS is June 2, but earlier submissions are encouraged.
